It doesn’t seem to be very long ago that we first saw Andy Marks appear at the Wakefield Show with his ‘Acorn and RISC OS Spares and Extras’ stand, referred to with an acronym that had people with a childish sense of humour laughing (er… guilty, your honour! Very, very guilty!), and those without asking “do you realise what that says?” Not long after, ‘ARSE’ (snort) became RISCOSbits, supplying a variety of cases and computers to the RISC OS market – with more than a few having playful designations that…

With apologies to Kevin Wells for a bit of a delay mentioning the first of these updates (the bunker has been unattended for a couple of weeks), there are two updates to report on MACadd, his application that can be used to look up information about MAC (Media Access Control) addresses. MAC addresses are twelve digit base 16 (hexadecimal) codes assigned to network interfaces that are on board devices of all sorts, and intended to be unique. Their purpose is to ensure all such devices can be identified and treated…

My parrot, “Mister Blossom”, I have had since 2019 when his owner, my older sister, passed away suddenly. I have taken care of Mr B (and my elderly father) since then. My dad passed away this past February, leaving the parrot as my last family obligation. I know that my sister had the bird for …

For the last few months I have been super hard at work on the next major update to C64 OS, version 1.07. It will be released as a free update to all licensed users of C64 OS v1.x, and will be made available for download from the C64 OS System Updates page. The big new technology coming to C64 OS is networking. It’s been a long time coming, but up until this point there have been many more basic features that had to be completed first. And now I’m very excited to finally be at the point where I can work on the networking layer, which I think will really bust open the doors of what we can do with C64 OS. Along the way I’ve been implementing a number of smaller items on the list and fixing a bunch of annoying bugs. Here’s a short list of some of the updates and improvements that are coming in v1.07: Improved NMI handling and behavior of STOP+RESTORE New Network Utility for configuring C64 OS networking Settings Utility now offers to open the Network Utility TKInput fields gain support for. . .

This is one for the all developers out there! We love celebrating significant anniversaries and milestones, so it didn’t escape our notice that the source code to RISC OS has just reached one thousand accepted merge requests since being migrated to be held in Git back in 2019.
